On November 30<sup>th<\/sup>, we\u2019re looking forward to participating in Giving Tuesday, and hope you are too!<br><br>First, a little history: Giving Tuesday began in response to the incredible amounts of spending that occur from Black Friday through Cyber Monday. It was an idea that has evolved into an international movement to promote charitable giving, and encourages us to take a moment to consider how we\u2019re spending our hard-earned dollars.&nbsp;<br><br>It\u2019s a day for us to think,<strong> \u201cHow can I make a positive difference in my community?\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><br>And if there\u2019s anything we learned from the past nearly two years of living with COVID-19, it\u2019s this: <strong>when we come together as a community, incredible things can happen.<\/strong><br><br>Just take our vaccination rate\u2014over 86% of people over 12 years old in British Columbia are fully vaccinated, one of the highest in the country. And that\u2019s certainly something we should be proud of, because it\u2019s <em>who we are<\/em> as British Columbians\u2014we do what\u2019s right, we care for each other\u2019s wellbeing, and we give back.<br><br>We\u2019re proud to have been one of the first charities in Canada to set up an Emergency Response Fund for COVID-19 and our supporters since have never ceased to amaze us. Take 5-year-old Isaac Thorold, who raised $162 for our Emergency Response Fund by selling his artwork to &#8220;help the doctors stop the coronavirus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bccdcfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Isaac-2-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pacificpublichealth.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Isaac-2-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5484\" style=\"width:512px;height:384px\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Isaac Thorold sells his artwork to &#8220;help the doctor stop the coronavirus&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bccdcfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Isaac-4-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pacificpublichealth.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Isaac-4-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5485\" style=\"width:384px;height:512px\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Isaac Thorold &#8220;fulfilling&#8221; his online orders<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From simply giving through our website, to holding fundraisers, organizing campouts, donating poker winnings, and more, we could go on and on sharing all the ways British Columbians (of all ages!) have found a way to support our Emergency Response Fund.<br><br>And this Giving Tuesday, we\u2019re asking if you would do the same: give.<br><br>Give because you want to <strong>put this pandemic behind us<\/strong> once and for all.<br>Give because <strong>you care<\/strong> for your fellow British Columbians.<br>Give because <strong>it\u2019s who you are<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center aligncenter\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/interland3.donorperfect.net\/weblink\/WebLink.aspx?name=E920323QE&amp;id=38\" style=\"background-color:#7abd40\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donate Now<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And give because <strong>you believe in what we do<\/strong>.<br><br>Our work in public health is nowhere near complete.
